Automatic Transmission ID Guide
This guide will help you to identify your transmission and assemble the information needed to order a replacement. As you go through the guide, the information we need to process your order will be printed in RED. Please read the entire guide before ordering. Thank you.
440 (4T60)
To properly identify your transmission the following information is needed:
Year Make Model Engine Size
The VIN 8th digit is the "Engine ID" and the 10th digit is the "Year"
1985-1991 Need Transmission codes (i.e 5CC, 6EKY, 7FYP, 8ALA) - For locations, see pictures.
1985-1987 (E/K Models) Riviera, Toronado, Seville, Eldorado only - Verify that the transmission has a late case with extra bosses or towers by the T.V. cable and manual shaft is 1/4" longer. (See Pictures)

To properly identify your transmission the following information is needed:
Year Make Model Engine Size
The VIN 8th digit is the "Engine ID" and the 10th digit is the "Year"
1992-Up Need Transmission codes (i.e 5CC, 6EKY, 7FYP, 8ALA) - For locations, see pictures.
1992-1993 What color is the case connector (located on front corner facing radiator) - Black or gray? (See Pictures)
1993-Up Does transmission have a tin or aluminum side cover? If it is aluminum does it have 4 or 6 mount bolts? (See Pictures)
4T65E
To properly identify your transmission the following information is needed:
Year Make Model Engine Size
1998-up ('97-up supercharged) Bolt on ext housing,No vaccume mod
Smooth reverse servo cover, Aluminium side cover with 6 mount bolts
3 letter OEM code ends in "B", Case connector at top of side cover(see pictures)
4T80E
To properly identify your transmission the following information is needed:
Year Make Model Engine Size
1993-up 4.6 (and Olds. Aurora 4.0) Much larger than 4T60E or 4T65E, Bolt on ext housing, Case connector hangs off case on a harness, Shallow "L" shaped pan
Only 1 external servo, Rectangular aluminium side cover, 3 letter OEM code will end in "N" (see pictures)
